KISBER'S VICTORY.
Referring to Kisber's victory in the English Derby, the London correspondent of the Leader says : — Amongst the on dit? it is said that, tho Messrs. B illam netted over £100,000 upon tho event, £40,000 of which came from amateur bookers of the "upper ten." One noble lord it is said (rumour hatli it the Earl of Rosoberry) tried his hand at book-making, commencing with a ten-thousand pound book, and laid the whole Kisber in one bet. Lord Alington, better known as Mr Gerard Sturt, on the other hand, did well, for about Christmas time ho had a doubleevent bet, 4,500 to 223, Petrarch the Two Thousand, and Ivisbo.r the Derby.
